I was very fortunate to be able to join Warden Brooks’ president and founder, Joan, in Miami in the first week of March for the Enterprising Women Magazine ‘Enterprising Women of the Year’ awards. It was a wonderful and incredibly inspiring event. Having gone to my first EW Awards in 2006, I was 15 and definitely more interested in the pool and Disney amusement parks, but I did leave thinking how wonderful it was that this group of ladies could inspire and build each other up. I have always been so proud of Joan (she is my mother after all!) and liked seeing her amongst other strong and determined women.
This trip was a different experience. I’ve been working for Warden Brooks for 7 months now and being vice president of sales and marketing, I knew I was in for a treat. With the amount of knowledge that was going to be present as this awards conference, I had to take advantage of the opportunity to speak with as many women as possible.
There is a sense of overwhelming feeling and pride when you read what the Award winners have accomplished with their women-owned businesses. From technology companies to social media companies, jewelry companies and authors – I left the events knowing that the sky wasn’t the limit – there truly is no limit for what women can accomplish! Having spoken with a multitude of different women, I took away one important value: try, and if it doesn’t work try again, and if that doesn’t work, try until it does.
